Local Schools

Helping the P&C Associations from local schools has been a frequent feature of Community Bank Epping’s grants program. They always have a long list of projects and equipment they would like to provide to the school – and these ‘extras’ can enhance and support children’s learning and school experience.

In 2024, we have supported 6 school P&Cs with 10 different projects – a huge variety but all very worthwhile. They are:

  • Cheltenham Girls High School: Equipment for the used clothing shop, and furniture to help a new breakfast club be established
  • Ngarala Public School: Peer support training materials and additional laptops and computer storage equipment
  • Epping Public School: New handball courts in the playground, and furniture for Kookaburra corner – a quieter part of the playground where pupils can relax
  • Epping North Public School: Materials for new works at the school’s community garden, and outdoor furniture and table tennis tables for the playground
  • Denistone East Public School: New electronic signage
  • Murray Farm Public School: Musical instruments and equipment for the school band program

School P&Cs are driven by parents and volunteers. They are the backbone of many schools – running canteens, helping out at sports carnivals, raising funds by running fairs and sausage sizzles, and buying new equipment.

Community Bank Epping is happy to support their fund-raising through our grants program.

Helping local sports

Whether you want to play soccer or netball, participate in cricket or athletics, Epping is lucky to have a great range of community sports clubs around the area. But clubs run on the goodwill of volunteers and fund-raising for extra equipment and facilities.

Community Bank Epping has been helping these clubs in many ways, especially over the last couple of years. Some recent grants include:

Epping Bulls

The premier local cricket club, Epping Bulls is seen playing across different sports fields each summer. They applied to refurbish their cricket nets at North Epping Oval – an important training facility in frequent use on summer afternoons.

Epping District Athletics

Drive down Norfolk Road in Epping many evenings and you’ll see the lights on in the building at the back of Epping Oval. This is the HQ for Epping Athletics – our foremost district athletics club with a proud history of developing champion runners.

The club applied for funding to renovate the second room of their gym in the clubhouse (the first one was completed pre-Covid with Bendigo support). This facility is used year-round for athlete training and is at the heart of the club. The floor and walls have been given the once-over, and new equipment and training gear will be in place for the next season.
