It has been a very busy start to 2024 for Community Bank Epping and our latest Autumn 2024 newsletter has a great round up of what we’ve been up to.

Already this year, our branch has received a record number of applications for community grants and sponsorships. As a truly community bank – we strive to return 80% of our annual profits to the district through supporting local not-for-profit and charitable projects. From newly fitted out canteens in use this winter soccer season, to a new community hall in Epping – it is a busy time. There is even now a horse named Bendy at the Riding for the Disabled Centre in Marsfield!

We’ve also taken time to celebrate 20 years of service from our long-standing staff member, Karen. And the rest of the team have been busy with many new customers and assistance for existing bank users.

Helping local school P&Cs with a huge range of pro

Helping local school P&Cs with a huge range of projects is one of our top community activities. Last year we funded 14 projects, and another 6 have just been approved.

It's great to get out and see the result. Our Chair, Craig, recently visited Epping North PS and saw the sturdy new table tennis and outdoor furniture that the P&C organised. Whilst at Epping Public, it is new furniture for their Kookaburra Corner - a quiet spot for the children to chill out away from the lively playground.

With soccer season upon us, having volunteers to help manage injuries is really important.
That's why we were happy to help Beecroft Football Club with a community grant to fund a pre-season first aid course. Enthusiastic members spent a Saturday learning important first aid. Hope you have a good season ahead - and maybe don't have to use the new skills to often!

Looking for a local venue can be a hassle. Where can you hold a meeting or birthday party? Want to run a course or exercise classes? And you don't want to spend a fortune on venue hire ...
Luckily there are some great options in Epping. Two of them are the Epping Rotary Hall on Blaxland Road (super for meetings, classes and courses) and the North Epping Bowling and Social Club (larger functions fit well here as a licensed venue).

There's many different ways in which our grants help local sports clubs - as there is always so many things they need to ensure the players can focus on the sport.
Some items that Community Bank Epping funded for local soccer club Roselea Football Club were on display at their grading day - marquees for shade and shelter, nets and gear for practices, and a trailer for moving everything around from ground to ground.

The largest project Community Bank Epping has supp

The largest project Community Bank Epping has supported with grant funding is the North Epping Men's Shed - and it is now coming to fruition. Six years in the making, there is frequent activity at the Shed on Boundary Road as the final fit out is completed.
Dropping in on a Tuesday morning, the Shed is a hive of action with members active on many projects. Locals can now join as members and get involved - go to nems.org.au or call in.

Helping our kids learn about biodiversity and gett

Helping our kids learn about biodiversity and getting them to plant new school gardens that will act as a B&B Highway for bees, birds and pollinators is the aim of PlantingSeeds - a not for profit educational group.
Community Bank Epping funded a project where they visit Epping schools and run a program that gets children involved right through to planting new native gardens. Last week was the turn of Epping Public School and our Chair, Craig Gallagher called in to meet the educators.

It is part of our grants program, that saw over 50 projects around Epping funded in 2024.

Summer sport is now winding down, as we hit autumn

Summer sport is now winding down, as we hit autumn and soccer and netball teams gear up.

One of our recent community grant recipients is Tigers Baseball Club and these happy kids are the Zooka team who have made their way to the finals next week (along with two other Tiger teams). Good luck!

Community sports clubs are a great part of our local area - with lots of choice in sports. We are happy to be a regular financial sponsor of these clubs.
